The Green Republic Project (TGRP), a youth-led grassroots climate action group, and Pernod Ricard Ghana, a distributor of high-end alcoholic beverage and wine brands, have teamed together to plant 1,500 trees in Moree, a town in the Central Region, in honour of World Environment Day 2023.
This project served as the beginning of a collaborative effort to plant 10,000 trees in particular districts of Ghana.
The chief of Moree, Nana Obokese Ampah, together with his sub-chiefs, top executives from Pernod Ricard Ghana, including the Country Manager, opinion leaders, representatives of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, and members of the media attended the occasion.
The Green Republic Project's convener, Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa, emphasised the significance of Ghanaians taking environmental sustainability seriously during the ceremony and asked people to help address the many problems confronting mankind.
He praised Pernod Ricard Ghana for its commitment to planting 10,000 trees, underlining the benefit to the environment as a whole and its contribution to local, regional, and international efforts to combat climate change and global warming as part of the company's CSR.

The communications manager for Pernod Ricard Ghana, Ms. Eunice Osei-Tutu, asked Ghanaians to be aware about Specifically highlighting the negative impacts of indiscriminate logging and extensive deforestation, which contribute to climate change and global warming, they should take responsibility for their actions and abstain from practises that affect the environment.
The chief of Moree, Nana Obokese Ampah, thanked the Green Republic and Pernod Ricard Ghana for choosing the traditional fishing community of Moree as the project's initial recipient.
He urged other firms to join Pernod Ricard in addressing climate change and other environmental issues that have an impact on people by working with the Green Republic.
Every year on June 5, people throughout the world celebrate World Environment Day to raise awareness of environmental challenges and consider the most effective methods for preserving and safeguarding the environment.
