Liverpool must finalize the sale of Dominik Szoboszlai by Friday if they want to sign the midfielder for his €70 million release clause, according to Fabrizio Romano.
After completing the £35 million signing of Alexis MacAllister from Brighton, Jurgen Klopp is anxious to add more midfielders to his squad in order to rebuild that section of his team.
Nicolo Barella, Khephren Thuram, Federico Valverde, Manu Kone, and Romeo Lavia have all been connected in recent weeks, but according to The Athletic's David Ornstein, the Reds are also interested in RB Leipzig's Szoboszlai.Ornstein claimed Liverpool is 'exploring a transfer deal' and'met with the 22-year-old's representation this week with a view to a summer transfer'.
This follows a story in the German newspaper Bild claiming that Leipzig's demands have so far proven 'too much for Newcastle' to meet.
Ornstein went on to say that Liverpool recognizes that a "potential deal" is "complicated" and "will be a very difficult deal to get done," with "a significant financial outlay."

The Hungary international's contract includes a €70 million release clause, but as Fabrizio Romano discovered, it is only valid until June 30.
'Understand release clause for Dominik Szoboszlai is active till June 30 — not July 15th,' the transfer expert tweeted. #transfers
'Release clause available for €70 million only if club submits official bid by June 30. If the bid is filed later, the provision will be valid just for the winter window.'
Midfield signings remain a priority for Klopp, and journalist Neil Jones has denied a story that Liverpool are 'favourites' to sign striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli in a £154 million deal.'While I don't like to dismiss stories or downplay what other journalists may be hearing from their sources, I have to say I would be surprised to see Liverpool sign Victor Osimhen, or any other striker of that calibre or asking price, for that matter,' Jones wrote for Caught Offside.
'Osimhen is obviously a very good player who has had a great season, but I just don't see Liverpool being in the market for that kind of player - they might look for a younger forward as a future signing who could grow into being a starter later, but for the first-team I think the focus remains on midfield as a priority, and then maybe a striker beyond that.
