The club's players met the former Maldives manager during a training session on Thursday before the team's 11-1 preseason victory over lower division team Miracle Land FC.

The term of his contract has not been made public as he takes over for Serbian Slavko Matic, the Phobians' last significant head coach.

The Phobians are getting ready for the start of the 2023–24 season in September as Koopman arrived in Ghana over the weekend.

Following Matic's departure, the Ghana Premier League team has been looking for a new club.

Due to terrible rounds of results, the Serbian coach who took over for Samuel Boadu midway through the previous campaign on a two-year term was forced to depart the club.

David Ocloo, a former assistant coach, was appointed as the interim manager. Ocloo and the club mutually agreed to part ways after he led the team to a 12th-place finish the previous season.

Rene Hiddink, the club's technical director, is thought to have proposed Koopman to the club's upper management.

The 67-year-old, a former Dutch defender, has previously led clubs including BV Veendam, FC Den Bosch, and AS Vita Club.

Koopman has also served as the manager of Saudi Arabia and Aruba.

Ibrahim Sadiq of Ghana scores twice as BK Hacken dominates FK Zalgiris in a Europa League qualification match.

Ibrahim Sadiq, a rising star for Ghana's national team, stole the show for BK Hacken on Thursday night during their successful Europa League qualification match against FK Zalgiris with a brilliant double.

The explosive winger, who had struggled to find the back of the net in his previous appearance for the team, made a decisive return to the scoresheet by producing two clinical finishes and assisting another in a stunning 5-0 victory on their home field.

Sadiq's first goal of the game came from inside the 18-yard box, when he neatly delivered the ball with precision and composure.

The opportunity was created by a teammate's flawless cross-field ball, which brought the score to 3-0 after two previous goals.

Savoring the opportunity, Sadiq quickly added to his score, this time from the penalty spot, increasing the margin to an unstoppable 4-0 advantage. A fifth goal was scored in extra time in the second half to complete a resounding victory that proved BK Hacken's superiority.

BK Hacken's overwhelming 5-0 victory over FK Zalgiris translates into an 8-1 victory overall, placing them in a matchup with Aberdeen in the last round of qualifying.
