?A teenager who admitted stabbing a math teacher in a school hallway was sentenced to 14 months in prison. The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, took a six-inch kitchen knife from the house and covered his face with a nose during the attack.
He admitted unlawfully and maliciously attempting to harm math teacher Jamie Sansom in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, at the start of a two-day trial at Bristol Magistrates' Court in September.
The boy previously pleaded guilty to possessing a sharp object following the July 10 attack at Tewkesbury Academy. In ordering 14 months of detention and training, District Judge Lynne Matthews told the defendant: “You did not act impulsively.
You bring a veil to school, you bring a knife to school. You tell a friend what is about to happen and alert the emergency services. Nothing impresses me more about it than impulsiveness. The teenager was remanded to a youth detention center last month by District Judge Lynne Matthews, who told him:
"We will need to know more about you and the court will need to hear the from a group of young criminals. I don't know what your sentence will be – I won't guess. You will be sentenced on September 28.
You will be detained until September 28, which means I will not send you home. The boy was about to stand trial on the more serious charge of intentionally causing injury, but the prosecution accepted his guilty plea to the less serious charge of intentionally causing injury.

Mr. Sansom, who has taught maths at the school since 2017, was released from the hospital the same day as the attack and said he was "recovering well". At the time of the attack, the academy was on lockdown, and two neighboring schools were also asked to close as a "precaution" following the attack.
Around 100 parents and guardians were seen outside the school, although they were told not to come or call the office and told to go to a nearby garden center. On the day of the attack, headteacher Kathleen McGillycuddy said:
“We appreciate that this morning is a worrying time for everyone associated with Tewkesbury Academy. We are writing to ensure that all students remain safe and healthy. We were notified shortly before 9 a.m. this morning of a serious incident that left a male member of staff hospitalized.
