The Volta River Authority has restored the water supply system for the residents of Aveyime in the North Tongu District as part of its Emergency Preparedness Plan, which was established in May 2023 to offer assistance to areas impacted by the controlled spill of the Akosombo and Kpong Dams.
The Aveyime raw water intake pumps for the flooded municipality have been moved to a higher location.
The water treatment system is connected to a pump protection shed that contains power panels. The team laboured nonstop, digging ditches and putting in pipes to provide the town with drinkable water right away.
The recently installed water system will be presented to the residents of Aveyime by Deputy Chief Executive (Services) Ken Arthur today. This guarantees that people have access to safe, clean water for drinking, cooking, and bathing. The afflicted areas should receive as much assistance as possible, and VRA is devoted to making life easier for the flood victims.
The safe havens will soon undergo more water supply restorations, this one being the first. Every adult, kid, and member of the community in need of water will soon have access to it thanks to plans for expansion.
The VRA regularly distributes tankers of clean, drinkable water to residents in areas with shut-off water supplies. Additionally, they provide sachet water in the form of thousands of bags for drinking.
To help stop the spread of waterborne illnesses in the communities, VRA is concentrating on providing rapid, clean water supplies. To guarantee that such a fundamental human need is met, water is continuously provided to the flood victims.
VRA has taken it upon itself to give technical aid as well to the communities impacted by the controlled spill, despite the fact that it continues to supply medical supplies, canned food, toiletries, pharmaceuticals, beds, buckets, rice, sugar, mosquito nets, etc. to the flood victims.
As an engineering firm, VRA seeks to assist the flood victims in ways that go beyond simply providing supplies of aid and medications. The residents of these areas are receiving access to VRA's top-notch technological capabilities.
Because of their pledge to the populace to leave no one behind and their commitment to upholding that promise, VRA is actively offering relief options for the flood victims.
