In their 1-0 loss to Newcastle United, Gary Neville took aim at Nicolas Jover, the set-piece coach for Arsenal, accusing him of "screaming" at Leandro Trossard "like he was the manager."

Mikel Arteta's team's ten-match unbeaten streak was ended by a disputed goal by Anthony Gordon, handing the Gunners their first Premier League loss of the season.

After dropping to fourth place in the Premier League, Arsenal could be as much as five points behind their bitter rivals Tottenham, who might take the top spot should they defeat Chelsea on Monday night.

Late in the game, Arteta's team tried to equalize, but Newcastle successfully defended many corners taken by Belgium international Trossard.

However, Neville believed that Jover, the set-piece coach for Arsenal, overpressed Trossard from the sidelines, with the German "screaming" at the winger in the last moments.

In his Sky Sports podcast, Neville stated, "It was driving me crazy," in response to a question regarding the Gunners' set pieces near the end of the game. The set-piece coach over here was also giving me the runaround.

Like he was the manager, he was yelling nonstop. That might not be helpful. He is yelling angrily at Trossard for stealing the set pieces. Settle down; you've told him three or four times, you've gone over it with him during the week, and it's posted on the board in the locker room before the game.

He seemed to be exerting additional pressure on Trossard to take the corners, which Trossard, to be honest, couldn't handle because of how terrible his corners were.

"They were great opportunities in a really close game. Mikel Arteta and the other coaches in this league don't need to be told that these are the key moments; Arsenal has a strong record and is proficient at corners." It everything collapses if the delivery is poor; it must be excellent.

"It seemed like the set-piece coach was yelling at him on this near side, and to be honest, he was probably exerting undue pressure on him."

"As a right-back, I couldn't have taken corners even though I could cross a ball. People may say it's the easiest thing in the world, but it's not easy at all. If you're good at it, it looks really easy. But when you go to take a set-piece or a dead ball, you have to be relaxed.

“But to actually get it into the right areas all the time with precision, that’s not an easy thing to do. So actually making sure the players are relaxed before they take them is an important thing, and I don’t think that helps.”
