RAPHAEL VARANE has been pulled from Como's Serie A team due to an injury sustained on his debut.

Varane, 31, joined the Italian club after a difficult three-year spell with United, which ended when his contract expired.

The centre-back made his Coppa Italia debut three weeks ago, starting for Cesc Fabregas' team against Sampdoria in the first round.
However, the former France international only lasted 23 minutes before being substituted due to a knee injury.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Varane's injury has resulted in Fabregas dropping him from his team for the season.

Throughout his time with United, the Frenchman sustained a number of terrible injuries.
The former Real Madrid player never made more than 24 Premier League appearances in any of his three seasons.
In reality, since the start of the 2021/22 season, the defender has sustained 12 separate ailments.
Varane missed 49 matches throughout the time period.

In 95 appearances for the Red Devils, the 2018 World Cup winner scored two goals and provided one assist.
Varane helped the Manchester giants win the EFL Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup the following year.

Fabregas was determined to sign him after he became a free agent in the summer. The Arsenal and Chelsea great stated, "Raphael is a special player, and his signing demonstrates the ambition we have for this club.

"He is highly decorated, and the experience he brings from two of the world's greatest leagues should not be overlooked. I can't wait to begin working with him.

Baroni upbeat after Lazio draw with AC Milan

Lazio fought back from a goal down, with Taty Castellanos and Boulaye Dia scoring, before Rafael Leao found an equaliser for Milan.

Baroni said: “The team had an excellent second half, we pushed hard. Clearly, we weren’t ideal in the first half and need a little time to get all the new players settled.

“We have to improve when we are aggressive in the press and controlling the transition, but Milan have a lot of physicality and pace, we know there are risks in the way we play and our players have to embrace that.

“With four attacking players, I wanted to send a message and I think it was received. We take risks, we need to find the right balance, but we have to be aggressive and attacking. Possession must not be just for its own sake, but to create chances and above all get bodies in the box. That is where we also need to do better.

“We played to win, but against this Milan side you cannot afford mistakes, and we also knew that we had a slight disadvantage on set plays, but I preferred to take that approach.”
