Barcelona are going in the right direction both on and off the pitch. In regards to the latter, their salary cap was recently doubled – this is testament to the positive work that has been done behind the scenes at Can Barca, and there is a hope that they could soon return to La Liga’s 1:1 rule.

There is a desperation for this to happen by next summer, which would allow signings to be made much easier than previous transfer windows. If they are able to make it back to the 1:1, there could be a major signing or two made in 2025.

One of the players that could be sought is Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala. According to Sport, Barcelona president Joan Laporta considers the Germany playmaker to be a dream signing, and given that his current deal expires in 2026, he could be available for a reduced fee in 2025 if no new deal is signed during this season.

There’s no doubt that Musiala is a top player, but he’s not a necessity for Barcelona. In attacking midfield, they already have quality options in Dani Olmo, Pedri and Fermin Lopez, so other areas should be targeted first.

Gavi returns to Barcelona training after injury: when will he play again?

Barça have been boosted by the return to fitness of Gavi after a 10-month absence caused by an ACL injury.

Barcelona midfielder Gavi has resumed full training with the rest of his teammatesfollowing a 10-month layoff as a result of an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear.

The 20-year-old, who made his Barça first-team breakthrough at the age of just 17 in 2021, suffered the serious knee injury while playing for Spain in a Euro 2024 qualifiers against Georgia on November 19, 2023.

After completing his recovery, Gavi was given a guard of honour by the rest of the first-team roster as he made his long-awaited return to training at Estadi Johan Cruyff on Thursday.

Will Gavi play for Barcelona against Girona on Sunday?

After such a long period on the sidelines, Gavi won’t be thrown back into action straight away by coach Hansi Flick. As a result, he will not be involved in Sunday’s LaLiga game against neighbours Girona at Montilivi (kickoff at 10.15am ET).

According to AS’ Javi Miguel, the young midfielder will be given the green light to play again in two weeks’ time, provided he doesn’t suffer any setbacks. That means he is set to miss games against Monaco (September 19), Villarreal (September 22) and Getafe (September 25), which immediately follow the trip to Girona.

However, it looks as if there is a chance he could be involved in any of Barcelona’s next three fixtures before the October intentional break, which are away to Osasuna (September 28), at home to Young Boys (October 1) or away to Alavés (October 6).
