Real Madrid’s clash with Alavés today will be a landmark occasion for Carlo Ancelotti, who takes charge of his 300th game as Los Blancos’ head coach.

“I’ve been lucky enough to coach some great clubs during my career, and now I’m going to reach 300 matches with what is the greatest club in the world - there can be no doubt about that,” Ancelotti told reporters yesterday. “It has been, and always will be, very special to sit in the Real Madrid dugout. Doing that 300 times - well, it’s not a miracle, but it’s not far off.”

How many trophies has he won at Real Madrid?

During his two spells as Madrid boss - before being reappointed in 2021, he had two seasons at the helm between 2013 and 2015 - Ancelotti has won 14 pieces of silverware. The haul leaves the 65-year-old as the club’s joint-most successful coach of all time, together with Miguel Muñoz.

Ancelotti has led Madrid to three Champions Leagues, two LaLiga titles, two Copas del Rey, two Spanish Super Cups, three UEFA Super Cups and two Club World Cups. Having also won two continental crowns as head coach of AC Milan, his career tally of five European Cups is a record for a coach.

What is Ancelotti’s win rate at Real Madrid?

Ancelotti’s 299 games as Madrid boss break down as follows: 196 in LaLiga, 64 in the Champions League, 24 in the Copa del Rey, eight in the Spanish Super Cup, four in the Club World Cup and three in the UEFA Super Cup. He has overseen more games than any other Madrid coach except Muñoz, who took led the team 605 times between 1959 and 1974.

So far, Ancelotti’s win-draw-loss record as boss of the 15-time European champions reads: 217 victories, 43 stalemates and 39 defeats. This gives him a 73% win percentage.
