After winning their standout match of the current season, the powerhouse of Ghana, Asante Kotoko, has moved up to second place in the Ghana Premier League standings.

On Wednesday, October 2, the squad known as the Porcupine Warriors faced the Nsoatreman Football Club to resolve their outstanding match from Week 2 of the league competition.

At the end of the ninety minutes of play at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi, Asante Kotoko narrowly prevailed 1-0 thanks to an own goal.

After four games, Asante Kotoko now has eight points for the season thanks to the win.

The team is now second in the Ghana Premier League standings and has not lost to this squad.

Asante Kotoko is well-positioned to contend for the league championship, trailing leaders Medeama Sporting Club by just one point.

To have any chance of winning the league, coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and his boys will need to remain focused and work hard to score as many points as they can in the remaining games.

Ghana FA Vice President Mark Addo advises clubs to stop hooliganism.

Mark Addo, the vice president of the Ghana Football Association, has encouraged Division One League teams to refrain from hooliganism this season.

The second-tier league, in which clubs compete for a spot in the Premier League promotion, started last week across the major centers.

Koforidua Semper Fi's president, Mark Addo, was present when his team overcame Inter Allies 1-0 to start their 2024–25 Division One League Zone III campaign on a positive note.

Ebenezer Kobia scored in less than a minute, providing Semper FI with the ideal start to their campaign.

"I hope the current 2024/2025 Division One League season brings success to every club," he stated.

In the meantime, Mark Addo has pleaded with the clubs to refrain from hooliganism to restore Ghanaian football's reputation.

"I'll be pleading with every club to refrain from hooliganism this season. He urged the media, "They should treat their opponent like brothers so we can have a season free of hooliganism."

"There is no need for hooliganism in any sense; the game of football is about camaraderie, brotherhood, and sisterhood," he went on. Supporters of football should not support it. Nothing else matters but the competition on the field. This promotes the brand and attracts sponsors for the event.

Next week, Koforidua Semper Fi will play their debut home game against Great Olympics at Koforidua Sports Stadium.
