Eric Gawu, a former striker for Hearts of Oak, has spoken out about why he chose to sign with the Accra-based team over rivals Asante Kotoko.

Gawu revealed that Kotoko and Hearts expressed interest in signing him when he looked back on his time at King Faisal. Hearts made a higher offer, though, and that eventually affected the transfer.

Gawu disclosed that King Faisal's owner, Alhaji Grusah, encouraged him to join Hearts of Oak because of financial problems at the club in an open interview with the Ernest Brew Smith Show on YouTube.

"After sitting down with Alhaji, I told him, 'I know you want money, but I'm not seeking for any. Since Kotoko was giving him 400 at the time and Hearts 600 Ashgold was giving him 300, I want to stay in Kumasi," he remarked.

"He sat down with me and said, 'Gawu, he wants me to play for Hearts since there isn't enough money to manage the team. Chapter Nine came and they claimed I was the player they wanted.

"Even if Hearts had a lot of money, I would have preferred to play for Kotoko since I would have had a better deal there."

Mohammed Fuseini: I need to be patient and wait for my first Black Stars call-up.

Ghanaian attacker Mohammed Fuseini has acknowledged the value of patience while expressing his excitement for his first call-up to the national squad.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate, 22, wants to establish himself as an unquestionable candidate for selection even if he hasn't yet represented Ghana at any level.

Though he is aware that getting a berth on the Black Stars is hard, he is nonetheless upbeat about his prospects.

I must exercise patience. Mohammed Fuseini told Flashscore, "I'm confident they'll call me when it's perfect. I just need to be ready."

"I'll be there to represent the nation when they call me," he continued.

This season's results for Fuseini have raised his hopes. He has demonstrated his offensive ability by scoring three goals and dishing out one assist in eight league appearances.

Due to a red card ban, he will not be able to play in the forthcoming Europa League encounter against Bodo/Glimt.
