Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC will represent Ghana at the 2024 Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, DC, USA.
To field a single team for the international friendly versus DC United of Major League Soccer (MLS), the two clubs will combine their personnel.
Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Audi Field in Washington, DC, is the date of this much-awaited encounter.
The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) collaborated to organize the ceremonial match. It is a part of the bigger Ghana Week DC 2024 celebration, which honors Ghanaian heritage and culture in the United States.
This fixture will serve as a major event during Ghana Week DC 2024, which runs from October 7–12.
Initially, Kotoko was scheduled to be the sole team to face DC United, but visa complications stopped most of its players from getting admission into the US.
With players who have legitimate US visas and have taken part in the same ceremonial game as last year, Medeama has stepped in to strengthen the team.
The Kotoko-Medeama team will go to the USA on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to get ready for the much-anticipated match.

He told Asempa FM, "The way our players perform at their individual clubs would work in our favor against Sudan."
He then on, "We are confident because these players are international and they understand the circumstances, even though this is international football."
After losing 1-0 to Angola and 1-1 to Niger, Otto Addo and his team are keen to win both of these games and accumulate all six points.
The first leg of the doubleheader will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, with the return game planned for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
