With a spirited 1-0 victory over Accra Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, Asante Kotoko surged to the top of the league standings.

In the 48th minute, Albert Amoah scored the game's lone goal, putting Dauda Saaka's accurate out-swinging cross into the net.

With their second straight victory, Kotoko demonstrated their impressive form from the start of the season.

With 55% of the possession and 17 goal attempts to the Lions' five, Kotoko dominated the game.

Kotoko was only able to worry Kotoko's goalkeeper twice out of these, while Accra Lions put four shots on target. Kotoko's supremacy was evident despite the narrow victory, as they displayed a disciplined defense to preserve a clean sheet.

With this victory, Kotoko now sits atop the table, leading Bibiani Goldstars on goal differential despite being level on points.

They will play Legon Cities next in an attempt to hold onto the top spot. The Accra Lions, on the other hand, are still having trouble with the season and are hoping to turn things around when they play Berekum Chelsea next week.

Supporters of Kotoko will be hoping that their team can maintain this momentum in the upcoming weeks.
