This weekend, the seven Asante Kotoko players who left for the Capital City Africa Cup in the United States of America will return to Ghana.

According to a club statement, the players will arrive in the nation on Sunday, October 13.

Additionally, we want to let our supporters know that the first contingent—which consists of seven players and technical staff—will return to Ghana on Sunday, October 13, 2024.

Asante Kotoko said on Thursday that "the team will immediately redirect its focus upon their return to establishing and building on our great start to the Ghana Premier League season, assuring continuing success in the domestic campaign."

The Ghanaian team announced their decision to withdraw from the Capital City Africa Cup in a letter.

The club stated, "We regretfully announce our decision to withdraw from the Capital City Africa Cup, which is set to take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in Washington, D.C."

The inability to obtain visas for the remaining players to join the seven players in the United States is the reason for the Cup's withdrawal.

Elfsborg's Michael Baidoo makes his debut for Ghana in the Sudan draw.

After coming off the bench to play in Ghana's goalless draw with Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifications, midfielder Michael Baidoo made his Black Stars debut.

With ten minutes left, the 25-year-old Elfsborg star took Ibrahim Sulemana's place as the Black Stars attempted a late winner, but a resolute Sudanese team held on to split the victory with Ghana.

After captain Thomas Partey and four other players from the original 25-man roster withdrew, Baidoo received a late invitation to the team.

Even though he entered the game late, the former FK Jerv player showed flashes of brilliance and gave the club some attacking danger as the Black Stars generated multiple chances in the closing minutes.

The former Ghana U20 player will accompany the team to Libya for the second leg of their match against Sudan. The Black Stars are in dire need of their first victory in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

With only two points from three games, the four-time African champions are still in third place in Group F.
