Following Ghana's humiliating 2-0 loss to Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu expressed his dissatisfaction.
Speaking openly, Badu expressed his displeasure with the national team's overall strategy and condemned their performance.
In the 62nd minute, Sudan took advantage of a Ghanaian defensive blunder and Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud converted the opportunity to give them the lead. Mohammed Abdelrahman punished the Black Stars even more by adding a second goal just three minutes later.
"We need to be modest and return to our roots because the national team is in a rut and we don't need to massage anything anymore. I know I'm exhausted right now. Because nothing is happening in the local league, under 17, u-20, u-23, local Black Stars, women's u-17, u-20, and Black Queens, Agyemang Badu told Onua Sports.
"You think we played last week, generated chances, and couldn't score, therefore we must win this one. The Black Stars have only won two of the last 15 games. Even if you win this one, the team is still bad; you've had six different coaches, and the issue persists. I believe that some people also manage to get away from the wahala.
"The players you have are doing this in their clubs and doing extremely well, but as soon as they arrive in Ghana, everything changes. They even have trouble controlling a ball.
I'm not sure if the two defenders and the person passing between you are obstructing the ball or what, but the fundamental rule in football is to play the ball away. If you do that, what would happen? It is impossible to defend this type of ball, and you lack a squad, character, desire, and everything else.
"If you compare the set pieces for our two games, we have more than thirty, and we haven't used even one open play. Individual play isn't working, and set pieces aren't working either,"
