Despite losing in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications, Kwame Opare Addo, the communications director for Ghana Premier League club, maintains that Sudan is not superior to the Black Stars.
At the Benina Martyrs Stadium in Libya on Tuesday afternoon, Ghana, the four-time AFCON champions, lost 2-0 to the Falcon Jediane.
The outcome puts the Black Stars in danger of missing out on the CAF's premier event, which will take place in Morocco the following year. The last time the four-time African champions did not make it to the AFCON competition was in 2004.
In an interview, Opare Addo praised Sudan's victory over Ghana, citing Kwesi Appiah's technical skill in the second half.
"Sudan accomplished something superior to our actions that day. Their team is not necessarily superior to ours. Equal play characterized the first half, but in the second half, they understood that they needed to attack from the sides to gain penetration, and it was successful.
"In the first half, Kwesi Appiah made a mistake, but he recognized it and penalized Ghana in the second half." "Oh," he said.
Ghana must now defeat Angola and Niger, who have already qualified, and hope that Sudan loses to these same opponents to maintain their hopes of making it to the tournament in Morocco the following year.

Combine European and local talents to create a potent Black Stars squad. Wilson Arthur suggests
The FA Cup Committee's chairman, Wilson Arthur, has recommended that the Black Stars, Ghana's national football side, be bolstered by adding both European and local players.
The Black Stars have struggled lately and haven't made a big impression in competitions.
After a goalless draw in the first leg at the Accra Sports Stadium, they suffered a devastating 2-0 loss to Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Arthur underlined the need to combine talent from both domestic and international venues when talking about possible tactics for the senior national team to reclaim its former glory.
"Those are the players." "Maybe we might bring in the very talented players from Europe to join the Black Stars, who are already local, like in Ghana and Africa," he continued.
As they finish the qualifications next month, the Black Stars will try to make amends in their following games against Angola and Niger.
