Akonnor discusses the importance of youth development and the potential for reviving Black Stars.
Charles Kwabena Akunnor, the former coach of the Black Stars, has underlined the necessity for Ghana to give youth football development more priority rather than concentrating only on the senior national team.
Although the audience holds the Black Stars in high respect, especially when they play well, Akunnor emphasized that other facets of the sport also need consideration.
He voiced worries that in order for football to succeed in the future in the nation, sporting authorities must make more investments in developing young talent.
"I believe we pay too much attention to the Black Stars. We have neglected the growth of our young people. We can improve, and we must act immediately and drastically," he told BBC Africa.
Akunnor's remarks followed the Black Stars' heartbreaking 2-0 defeat to Sudan in the Libyan 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying round.
