Liverpool will face Arsenal in a crucial Premier League match this Sunday without forward Diogo Jota, as confirmed by manager Arne Slot. Jota sustained a chest injury in last Sunday’s victory over Chelsea after a tough challenge with Tosin Adarabioyo, which forced him off the field. The injury also kept Jota out of Liverpool’s recent Champions League win against RB Leipzig, and he is not expected to return in time for the Arsenal game. Adding to Liverpool’s challenges, winger Federico Chiesa and right-back Conor Bradley may also be unavailable.

Despite the injuries, Slot remains optimistic about Chiesa’s recovery, noting that he could potentially train with the team shortly, though Jota’s return will take longer. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s absence continues as he recovers from a hamstring injury suffered in early October against Crystal Palace. Slot explained that while Alisson is progressing well, his return is likely still weeks away, pushing his availability to after the upcoming international break in mid-November.

This match holds significant weight as Liverpool sits atop the Premier League standings, four points ahead of Arsenal, who are currently third. Slot acknowledged Arsenal's recent dominance, stating, “They’ve been far ahead of us the past two seasons, and nobody knows yet who will emerge as our biggest competitor, but Arsenal will be one to watch.” He emphasized the importance of securing points against a strong rival early in the season.

Securing an away win at Arsenal presents a considerable challenge, especially with Liverpool missing key players. However, Slot believes his squad is up to the task, highlighting that away victories against teams like Arsenal and Manchester City are crucial for maintaining a competitive edge. Sunday's clash promises to be an intense showdown, with Liverpool aiming to cement their lead at the top of the table.
