Kurt Okraku, president of the GFA, travels to the Saudi Football Federation

At the invitation of his counterpart, President Yasser bin Hassan bin Mohammed al-Misehal, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku traveled to Saudi Arabia.

The Ghana Football Association announced on Friday that the purpose of the late September visit was to deepen the relationship between the GFA and the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).

Recall that the two football organizations inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in December 2022 to promote cooperation in several areas, including the promotion of elite football for both men and women and grassroots football.

By signing this agreement, SAFF agreed to host Ghana's national teams for games and training sessions and to share coaching, officiating, and administrative skills.

After two Ghanaian referees, Juliet Appiah, and Bless Yao Serlorm, participated in a capacity-building session in May of this year, the collaboration has already shown dividends. The collaboration also helped the Black Starlets, the male national Under-17 team, who traveled to Saudi Arabia in May 2023 before the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations, which took place in Accra.

With a common goal of seeing football flourish in both nations, the GFA and SAFF are putting in endless effort to make sure the collaboration lasts. It is expected that additional operations under the Agreement will soon be undertaken.
