Eric Ofori Antwi, a former goalie with Hearts of Oak, had surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee.

During his time with Hearts of Oak, the former Ghana U20 goalie suffered a catastrophic injury that has kept him out of action for almost a year.

After his contract with Legon Cities expired, Antwi left the team to join the Phobians in 2022. Due to injury setbacks, the goalie hardly played for the Phobians.

However, on Wednesday, the former Asante Kotoko goalie had surgery to repair his right knee at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi.

Antwi paid over GH¢18,000 in expenses with the help of former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper coach Eric Amponsah, who is currently with the Sudan national team.

After his surgery, he should be out of commission for eight to 10 weeks. The ambitious goalie, meantime, is aiming to play again in the second half of the Ghana Premier League season.

After recently leaving the giants Hearts of Oak, the former Medeama goalkeeper is currently without a team. Antwi was shown the exit door even though he still had a year left on his contract.

Antwi has played for Asante Kotoko, Medeama, and Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League. Additionally, he played for the Black Satellites, who placed third in the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup
