Real Sociedad will look to claim the scalp of Barcelona in the pick of La Liga Matchday 13 fixtures, running from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 November 2024.

Real Sociedad will host Barcelona at the Reale Arena in San Sebastian on the late evening of Sunday 10 November, with the Basque hosts targeting a first home win over the Catalan visitors since way back in 2016.

La Real manager Imanaol Alguacil, who was formerly considered a candidate to take up the reins at Barcelona, is expecting a difficult battle against the Blaugrana.

“Barca has respected us a lot for a long time and they come out differently against us,” Alguacil explained. “They like to have the ball and so do we. But we have known how to be united and get out in transitions when we have not been able to gain possession. There are going to be moments for everything, fatigue accumulates for everyone, and we have to know how to manage it.”

In a title race which is expected to rage throughout the season, champions Real Madrid will look to put pressure on their rivals by winning at home to Osasuna in the afternoon kick-off on Saturday 9 November.

Critics of Los Blancos have claimed that Kylian Mbappe has not yet adapted to the team’s style of play – or perhaps that manager Carlo Ancelotti has not shifted their tactics to take full advantage of the French forward’s presence – but midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has rejected this.

“Everything is going well for him in Madrid. He speaks Spanish well, which made his arrival easier. He’s a simple and humble person,” said Camavinga. “He’s acclimatised to the dressing room quickly, everyone likes him. He’s making waves in Spain. He has scored a lot of goals and I think he will continue like this.”

The round of Spanish top flight action also features Atletico Madrid visiting Mallorca, Villarreal will welcome Deportivo Alaves to the Ceramica Stadium, and Athletic Bilbao will visit Real Valladolid at the Jose Zorrilla Municipal Stadium.
