Prophet Nana Yaw Osei Tutu, also known as Prophet 99, the General Overseer and Founder of Yehowa Beye Prayer Ministry, has made a striking declaration regarding the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) prospects in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections. Speaking in an interview on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the Prophet shared his divine revelation, stating that the NPP’s decision to bypass Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah as Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate could cost the party its chance at retaining power.

According to the Prophet, Apostle Onyinah, the former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, was the divinely chosen candidate to run alongside Dr. Bawumia in the elections. However, the party’s leadership overruled this spiritual direction, opting instead for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO. This decision, Prophet Osei Tutu claims, will have dire consequences for the NPP.

He revealed that Apostle Onyinah holds a symbolic “key” that could have unlocked the party’s victory in the 2024 elections, breaking their long-standing electoral jinx. Prophet Osei Tutu insists that NPP leadership’s disregard for the divine instruction to select Apostle Onyinah as the running mate has doomed the party’s chances, suggesting that they should prepare for opposition.

In the interview, he stated, “Prof. Apostle Opoku Onyinah was the one who was supposed to partner Dr. Bawumia as running mate. He is the one wielding the key towards breaking the eight for the NPP. He was the one, but the party preferred NAPO. Due to this, the party will not be able to win the general elections. They should forget about it. They are bound to go into opposition.”

### The Divine Choice of Apostle Opoku Onyinah

Prophet Osei Tutu elaborated on the spiritual significance of Apostle Opoku Onyinah’s selection. According to him, the former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost carries immense influence within the Christian community, particularly among Pentecostals, who represent a significant portion of Ghana’s electorate.

The Prophet believes that Apostle Onyinah’s leadership and moral authority would have boosted the NPP’s appeal, especially among Christian voters. This alignment, he claimed, was a divine strategy intended to ensure the party’s victory in the December 7, 2024, polls.

However, the Prophet asserted that internal party politics and favoritism led to the imposition of Dr. Opoku Prempeh as the running mate. This decision, he believes, ignored the divine instruction and prioritized personal and political preferences over the party’s long-term success.

### Implications for the NPP’s 2024 Campaign

The New Patriotic Party, which has been in power since 2017, is striving to “break the eight,” a term used to describe their ambition to win a third consecutive term. Historically, no political party in Ghana’s Fourth Republic has achieved this feat.

Prophet Osei Tutu’s prediction comes at a critical time when the NPP is mobilizing resources and strategizing for the upcoming elections. While the party has not officially responded to the Prophet’s claims, his statements have sparked conversations among political analysts and the public.

Critics argue that the Prophet’s assertions reflect the challenges of balancing religious influence with political decision-making in Ghana. Others suggest that the NPP’s choice of running mate is a strategic decision based on Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s credentials and political experience, rather than a spiritual directive.

### A Call for Reflection

Prophet Osei Tutu’s comments also serve as a reminder of the growing influence of religious leaders in Ghana’s political landscape. His warning to the NPP to reconsider their decisions or face defeat underscores the belief among some Ghanaians that spiritual guidance plays a vital role in political outcomes.

The Prophet’s call for the party to reflect on their choices and seek divine intervention has resonated with sections of the population who view spirituality as intertwined with national leadership. However, whether the NPP will heed his advice remains to be seen.

### The Road Ahead

As the 2024 elections draw closer, the NPP faces the challenge of uniting its base and addressing concerns about its leadership choices. The party’s campaign will likely focus on its achievements in office, including economic recovery efforts, infrastructure projects, and social interventions.

Meanwhile, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) will seek to capitalize on any perceived weaknesses in the NPP’s strategy, including the controversy surrounding the selection of the running mate.

Prophet Osei Tutu’s prediction, whether taken as a spiritual warning or political analysis, has added another layer of intrigue to what promises to be a fiercely contested election. For now, the NPP must weigh their options carefully and decide how to respond to the concerns raised by both spiritual leaders and their constituents.

In Ghana, where politics often intersects with faith, the outcome of the 2024 elections will not only reflect the political will of the people but also the extent to which spiritual narratives influence electoral decisions.
