Trey Songz Ordered to Pay $11M for Assaulting Police Officer
A Las Vegas judge has ordered singer Trey Songz, born Tremaine Neverson, to pay $11 million in damages following an assault on a police officer during an incident in 2021. The officer, Tyrelle Dunn, who is a member of the Maryland Capitol Police, was injured while attempting to rescue his wife, who claimed she was being held against her will at Songz’s hotel.
The altercation took place at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas on November 28, 2021, during a birthday celebration for Songz, who was turning 37. The singer had invited a group of women to his hotel room, and Dunn’s wife was among them. When Dunn’s wife allegedly found herself in a distressing situation, she screamed for help, prompting Dunn to intervene.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Dunn was allegedly attacked by Songz and his security team as he tried to help his wife. Dunn suffered significant injuries, including fractured eye sockets and scarring, which caused him to miss work. The injuries were severe enough to keep him away from his job as a police officer.
While Trey Songz was cleared of any criminal charges related to the incident, Dunn pursued civil litigation, ultimately resulting in the $11 million verdict. The damages awarded to Dunn will cover his medical expenses, pain, and suffering, and also serve as punitive measures against the artist.

In a statement regarding the settlement of the rape case, Songz said the agreement conditions dismissal of the matter upon the completion of specified terms.
