Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian football star, has been a standout performer for Liverpool this season, contributing significantly to the team's success in the Premier League and Champions League. However, off the pitch, Salah's contract situation has been a source of ongoing speculation. As he enters the final six months of his current deal with the club, talks about extending his contract have reached a standstill. This has led to a fresh wave of headlines regarding Salah's future at Liverpool, adding to his reputation for making bold demands in contract negotiations.

One such incident reportedly occurred in 2018, when Salah allegedly threatened to leave Liverpool over the club's interest in signing Israeli forward Mu'nas Dabbur. At the time, Salah was at the peak of his powers, having guided Liverpool to the Champions League final and playing a crucial role in their title challenge against Manchester City. As one of the club’s most influential players, Salah reportedly tried to use his position to influence Liverpool’s transfer decisions.

This incident gained attention due to the tense political climate between Israel and Palestine, which has affected Salah’s relationships with Israeli players. Back in 2013, when Salah played for FC Basel, he controversially avoided shaking hands with Israeli players before a match against Maccabi Tel Aviv, instead opting for a fist bump. This was seen by many as a personal statement against Israel’s actions in the ongoing conflict with Palestine. Salah later explained that he had been pressured to play in the game, despite the tensions, and even scored during the match.

The claims about Salah threatening to leave Liverpool if Dabbur was signed resurfaced, with Palestinian journalist Lina Khattab reporting that Salah had expressed his displeasure with the potential transfer. However, others close to the player denied that Salah would ever let such matters affect his professional decisions. Former Egyptian national team coach Mahmoud Fayez also dismissed the rumors, asserting that Salah is a consummate professional who wouldn’t let the club’s transfer business influence his career.

In the end, Dabbur never joined Liverpool, and Salah went on to help the team win both the Premier League and Champions League in the following years. Despite the contract saga, Salah’s dedication to the club has remained unquestionable.
