Jay-Z denies allegations he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old in 2000 with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

A woman who alleges she was sexually assaulted by Sean “Diddy” Combs has updated her lawsuit to include claims against Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, asserting that he also assaulted her at the same event.

The civil lawsuit, initially filed in October against Combs, was amended on Sunday to name Carter as a defendant. Carter becomes the first additional celebrity accused of sexual assault in connection with the allegations against Combs.

In a statement to CNN, Carter described the allegations as so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whoever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?

Combs is already facing serious legal challenges. In September, he was indicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and prostitution-related offenses. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and denied any wrongdoing in roughly 30 civil lawsuits filed against him.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe, claims she was 13 years old at the time of the alleged assaults, which she says took place at an after-party following the 2000 Video Music Awards. She alleges she began to feel disoriented after consuming a drink at the party and wandered into a nearby bedroom, where Carter allegedly raped her first, followed by Combs. Doe states that she struck Combs and fled the party. Carter was previously referred to as Celebrity A in the original lawsuit.

Doe’s attorneys reportedly reached out to Carter with a request for mediation, which the lawsuit states was met with retaliation. According to the amended filing, Jay-Z responded to the said letter by not only filing an utterly frivolous lawsuit, but by also orchestrating a conspiracy of harassment, bullying, and intimidation against the Plaintiff’s lawyers, their families, employees, and former associates in an attempt to silence Plaintiff from naming Jay-Z herein. This effort was meant to scare Plaintiff and discredit her counsel. That effort failed.

In his statement to CNN, Carter dismissed the mediation request as a blackmail attempt and criticized Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee. This lawyer, who I have done a bit of research on, seems to have a pattern of these types of theatrics! he wrote.

Buzbee responded with a statement saying, The pleading speaks for itself. This is a very serious matter that will be litigated in court.

Carter expressed concern over the impact the allegations would have on his family, particularly his children. My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at a young age, he said.

CNN has also reached out to Beyoncé Knowles, Carter’s wife, for comment.

News of the lawsuit was initially reported by NBC.
