Former Black Galaxies midfielder Emmanuel Asiedu Attorbrah has given his full backing to Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as the team prepares to face Nigeria in the upcoming CHAN qualifiers later this month. Ghana’s Black Galaxies have been undergoing intensive training under Dramani’s guidance, aiming to break the cycle of poor performances in previous tournaments. Attorbrah, who didn’t play under Dramani himself but has heard positive reviews about his management style, believes that Dramani’s approach to motivating and bringing the best out of players will be crucial for their success. “Although I haven’t played under him directly, I’ve heard a lot of positive things,” Attorbrah told Citi Sports. “He knows how to manage his players and get the best out of them, and that’s what we need going into this qualifier.”

Reflecting on the challenges faced by past teams, Attorbrah pointed out that inadequate preparation and a lack of team cohesion were significant hurdles that prevented success in previous CHAN tournaments. He stressed the importance of thorough preparation, which includes spending adequate time in camp to build team chemistry and understand each other’s strengths. “During our time, we spent a long period in camp. The team was cohesive; we understood each other’s strengths, and there was confidence in the coaches and among the players,” Attorbrah explained. He emphasized that consistent effort, both in training and during matches, is essential for the Black Galaxies to perform well against Nigeria. This approach, he believes, will be crucial for Dramani in overcoming the past failures and leading the team to success in the upcoming qualifiers.

The Black Galaxies have already departed for Togo, where they will engage in a series of friendly matches in preparation for their encounters with Nigeria. These matches will be vital for the team to fine-tune their strategies and build the necessary confidence ahead of the qualifiers. The first leg will be held in Accra from December 20 to 23, followed by the return leg in Abuja. With the team having not made significant progress in the CHAN tournament since their final appearances in 2009 and 2014, the upcoming matches are seen as a critical opportunity to break that streak. Dramani’s experienced management will be key in guiding the team through this crucial period, as they aim to achieve a strong performance and secure a spot in the 2024 CHAN tournament.
