The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of Elders Chair for South Africa, Mr. Benjamin Kofi Quashie, has applauded his colleagues for their support and collective work towards the NDC victory in the 2024 elections.
Speaking to Nyansa TV, Sunday December 8, 2024, a day after Ghana's 2024 general elections, Mr. Quashie took the opportunity to express his warmest gratitude to all NDC members of SA, praising their steadfast commitment to the NDC course over the years.
"I sincerely appreciate your belief in our leadership over the past years and supporting us through thick and thin. It has not been an easy journey but your unperturbed support for us propelled us to give of our best to support the NDC course", he affirmed.
Regarding the elections outcome, Mr. Quashie pointed out that the overwhelming endorsement of the NDC portrays the level of anger burning in the hearts of the Ghanaian youth. Admittedly, "The government has been very despondent, disrespectful and oblivious of the candid views from Ghanaians concerning their plight arising from economic difficulties", he emphasised.
Again, it was his contention that the depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against major currencies aggravated the already precarious economic quagmire of Ghanaians. "The mismanagement of the economy was so loud that Ghanaians failed to appreciate the so called infrastructural development being tauted by the NPP government.
According to him, one standout feature that most political watchers have been oblivious of has been the monumental contributions of Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang. "She exhibited motherly love by convincing most women to vote for the NDC as a better alternative to the NPP. She needs commendation for a good work done and also as the first incoming female Vice President of our great republic", Mr. Quashie eulogised Prof. Opoku Agyemang.
The SA chair, in concluding his interview, appreciated the Chapter's efforts, encouraging them to continue supporting the NDC SA leadership to continue to support the party after winning the elections. "We need to present a united front to help the NDC government to succeed. This is what Ghanaians need at this time and I urge you all to help in that regard", Mr. Quashie stated
