Eric Alagidede, the former General Manager of Nsoatreman Football Club, has officially resigned from his position after a tenure of one and a half years. His decision to step down has been attributed to personal reasons, with no political factors influencing his choice. Alagidede announced his departure on December 16, 2024, clarifying that it was a purely personal decision. The timing of his resignation sparked speculation, especially considering that it came shortly after the club’s owner, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, lost his parliamentary seat in the recent 2024 general elections. However, Alagidede stressed during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show that his departure was based on his own principles and a desire for new challenges, not any political considerations.

During his time as General Manager, Alagidede played a key role in transforming Nsoatreman FC from a relatively unknown club to a competitive force in Ghanaian football. Under his leadership, the club secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League in their debut season and clinched their first major trophy—the 2024 MTN FA Cup—by defeating regional rivals Bofoakwa Tano in a thrilling penalty shootout. Alagidede’s strategic vision for the club included building a solid youth development system, enhancing the club’s scouting network, and investing in infrastructure such as training facilities and a modern stadium. His focus on long-term development rather than short-term gains helped position Nsoatreman FC as a competitive club not only domestically but also on the continental stage, where they participated in the CAF Confederation Cup.

As Alagidede departs from Nsoatreman FC, his legacy will be remembered for his contributions to the club’s rise to prominence. His tenure marked a period of stability and growth, setting the foundation for future success. Although the exact reasons for his decision to resign remain personal, stakeholders and fans are optimistic about the club’s future. The club has yet to announce his successor, and the next General Manager will have big shoes to fill. Alagidede leaves behind a team that is now better equipped to handle the demands of top-flight football, with a solid squad and a committed fan base. The club is now in a transitional phase, seeking to maintain the momentum built under Alagidede’s leadership and continue competing at the highest level in Ghanaian football and beyond.
