Government Trains 50 Beneficiaries in Kwahu West to Boost Employment Opportunities
The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly has announced the successful completion of a government-sponsored training program aimed at equipping 50 beneficiaries with various essential skills. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to reduce unemployment and promote self-sufficiency in the region.
The training program focused on skills that are in demand within the local economy, including tailoring, hairdressing, bead-making, carpentry, and other vocational trades. By providing hands-on training and practical skills, the government hopes to empower individuals to either secure employment or establish their own small businesses.
In a statement, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, *Hon. Yaw Owusu Addo*, highlighted the importance of skill acquisition for the socio-economic development of the region. He noted that the initiative is designed not only to reduce unemployment rates but also to provide individuals with the necessary tools to become productive members of society.
“This program is about giving people a chance to stand on their own,” the MCE remarked. “We want our youth and unemployed individuals to be equipped with skills that will serve them for life. Self-reliance through skill acquisition is the key to sustainable development.”
Many of the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude, acknowledging that the training had given them a new lease on life. *Akua Mensah*, one of the participants who trained in bead-making, stated, “I now have a way to support myself and my family. I plan to start my own business selling handmade jewelry.”
The program also included workshops on financial literacy and basic entrepreneurship, ensuring that participants not only gain technical skills but also understand how to manage their finances and market their services. This holistic approach is expected to enhance the long-term success of the trainees.
Community leaders and local stakeholders have praised the government for its commitment to tackling unemployment through practical measures. They emphasized the need for continued support and the expansion of such programs to other parts of the country.
The government’s initiative in Kwahu West aligns with national efforts to improve livelihoods through technical and vocational education. Authorities are hopeful that this success will serve as a model for similar projects in other regions.
