PSG GOALKEEPER DONNARUMMA SUFFERS NASTY FACIAL INJURY IN VICTORY OVER MONACO

Paris St-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was forced to leave the field after suffering a severe facial injury during their 4-2 win against Monaco in Ligue 1. The Italy international was struck in the face by the boot of Monaco defender Wilfried Singo, resulting in around 10 staples to close the wounds. The incident occurred in the 22nd minute when the score was still 0-0, and despite the challenge being reckless, it was deemed unintentional, and no foul was given. PSG manager Luis Enrique commented on the difficulty of refereeing such challenges, stating that while players don’t intend to cause harm, it is still a challenging situation to manage during a match.

Despite the injury setback, PSG managed to secure a crucial victory, overcoming a 2-1 deficit to win 4-2 against Monaco. Goals from Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, and Goncalo Ramos allowed PSG to maintain a 10-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table as they head into the Christmas break. Monaco had taken the lead with goals from Eliesse ben Seghir’s penalty and Breel Embolo’s strike. However, Dembele’s brace and Ramos’ header turned the tide in PSG’s favor. This win demonstrated PSG’s resilience and depth, as they managed to navigate the game successfully despite the setback of losing their goalkeeper to injury.

Following the match, PSG confirmed that Donnarumma will undergo medical examinations on Thursday to fully assess the extent of his facial injuries. The club mentioned that the goalkeeper will need to rest for several days to recover properly. This injury adds to the series of challenges PSG has faced throughout the season regarding player availability. Donnarumma’s quick recovery is vital for the club as they prepare for upcoming fixtures and aim to maintain their lead in Ligue 1. The Italian international will likely miss training sessions in the immediate future, but if his recovery progresses smoothly, he should be ready to return to action soon.
