WAEC to Release 2024 WASSCE Results by December 29 – Education Minister

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is set to release the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results by December 29, according to the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. This announcement comes as a relief to thousands of students and parents eagerly awaiting the results to determine their academic futures.

ODr. Adutwum disclosed this during a press briefing in Accra on Tuesday, highlighting the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency and efficiency in the results processing system. The Minister commended WAEC for its efforts in adhering to the scheduled timeline despite challenges faced during the examination period.

Efficient Results Processing

Dr. Adutwum explained that WAEC has introduced enhanced technologies and measures to speed up the grading and collation processes. This includes the use of automated systems and stringent supervision during the examination period to minimize cases of malpractice.

"The government, in collaboration with WAEC, has worked tirelessly to ensure that the results will be released on time. We are confident that by December 29, candidates will have access to their results, allowing them to plan their next steps," the Minister assured.

Significance for University Admissions

The timely release of the WASSCE results is crucial for prospective university students as it allows them to meet application deadlines for the 2024/2025 academic year. Many local and international universities require results before finalizing admissions, making this announcement a significant development for the education sector.

"We understand how important these results are for students and their families. The Ministry has ensured that WAEC has the necessary resources to deliver quality results within the stipulated timeframe," Dr. Adutwum added.

Addressing Malpractice

WAEC also assured the public of its commitment to combating examination malpractice. Speaking at the briefing, WAEC's Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, revealed that the Council had recorded fewer cases of malpractice in 2024 compared to previous years due to rigorous monitoring and the introduction of digital security features on question papers.

She reiterated that any candidate found culpable would face the necessary sanctions as stipulated in WAEC's regulations.

Candidates Advised to Stay Patient

Dr. Adutwum urged candidates to remain calm and avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes that promise early access to results. "All candidates should note that WAEC does not release results through third parties. Results will be accessible only via the official WAEC portal," he stated.

As the countdown to December 29 begins, many stakeholders, including school administrators and parents, are optimistic about the smooth release of the results. This marks another step forward in Ghana's education sector, as timely and efficient processes build trust and reliability in national examinations.

The 2024 WASSCE results will be made available online, and candidates are advised to log onto the official WAEC website with their unique credentials to check their results once released.
