WAEC Official Apologizes to Education Minister Over WASSCE Results Comment
In a recent development, John Kapi, the Director of Public Affairs for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has retracted his earlier criticism of Ghana's Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. Kapi had previously labeled Dr. Adutwum's assurance regarding the timely release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results as "scandalous."
The controversy began when Dr. Adutwum assured the public that the WASSCE results would be released by Sunday, December 29. In response, Kapi expressed skepticism, citing the government's delayed financial commitments to WAEC, which he believed could impede the timely release of the results. He stated that such assurances were unfounded given the circumstances. The education community and the general public await the release of the WASSCE results, hopeful that such collaborative efforts will lead to improved efficiency and transparency in the future.
