The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reassured its supporters following the Supreme Court’s annulment of election results from four constituencies in the 2024 election. Gary Nimako Marfo, the party's Director of Legal Affairs, emphasized that the court's decision had no significant impact on the outcome of the election. Speaking to journalists on Friday, Nimako stated that the Supreme Court's ruling was purely procedural, ensuring fairness in the legal process. He reassured party members, stressing that there was no cause for alarm. According to Nimako, the NPP would return to the High Court on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, where they were confident that the court would order the Electoral Commission (EC) to proceed with the collation and declaration of the results.

The Supreme Court's annulment specifically affected the results from Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, Techiman South, and Ablekuma North constituencies. The re-collation of votes, which had taken place on December 21, 2024, was in line with a previous High Court order directing the EC to carry out the process. However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) contested the procedure, arguing that it was not given an opportunity to be heard before the re-collation. The Apex Court ruled in favor of the NDC, directing the High Court to rehear the case with a new judge on Tuesday, December 31, 2024. Nimako, who is also representing NPP MPs-elect, expressed confidence that the party would secure a favorable outcome once the High Court resumed the process.

Nimako's comments reflect the NPP’s commitment to continuing the legal process despite the setbacks. He reiterated that the situation was not a loss for the party but a part of the legal process designed to ensure fairness and transparency. The NPP's leadership remains hopeful that the High Court will take the necessary steps to move the process forward and ultimately declare the results, including the collation of votes in the contested constituencies. The outcome of the upcoming court sessions will likely play a significant role in determining the next steps for the party in the post-election phase.
