Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian forward for Liverpool FC, has recently made headlines by announcing that this season will be his last with the club if no progress is made in extending his contract.
Salah's current contract, which reportedly exceeds £400,000 a week, is set to expire at the end of the season. Despite Liverpool's offer, negotiations remain far apart on financial terms. Salah has expressed his desire to deliver a stellar performance this season to leave as a hero, having already netted 20 goals and 17 assists in 26 appearances.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Salah stated, "I want to win the Premier League this season. It's my last chance to do something special for the club."
Liverpool is also negotiating contract renewals with other key players, including Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Alexander-Arnold has reportedly attracted interest from Real Madrid.
In addition to contract negotiations, Liverpool has been active in the transfer market. The club recently rejected bids of £15-16 million for Ben Doak from Ipswich Town and Crystal Palace, valuing him closer to £30 million. Liverpool's management believes Doak, currently excelling on loan at Middlesbrough, has a future at Anfield.
As Salah enters the final six months of his contract, he is now able to negotiate with foreign clubs for a pre-contract agreement. His departure would mark the end of a significant era for Liverpool, as he has been instrumental in the club's successes since joining from Roma in 2017. Salah has become Liverpool's fourth-highest all-time goal scorer with 231 goals.
The situation remains dynamic, and fans are eagerly awaiting further developments regarding Salah's future with Liverpool.
