Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa Details ORAL Team's Efforts to Address Alleged State Asset Mismanagement
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a key member of former President John Mahama’s Operation Recover Assets and Lands (ORAL) Team, has highlighted the team’s recent investigations into alleged state asset mismanagement in Accra. In a Facebook post on Saturday, Ablakwa revealed some alarming discoveries made during visits to Cantonments and other areas in Accra.
The ORAL team conducted site inspections at locations such as the Dubois Centre, Agric Mechanization lands, Labadi Beach Hotel’s beachfront, La Trade Fair, the demolished Bulgarian Embassy site, and property belonging to the Northern Development Authority (NDA) in Cantonments. These visits aim to gather evidence, validate public petitions, and compile a detailed report for President Mahama’s incoming administration.
At the Dubois Centre, tensions arose between Ministry of Tourism staff and a company allegedly contracted by the previous government to manage the facility. Staff reported being locked out of their offices and receiving threats. Team ORAL intervened, involving National Security to restore calm and protect the premises.
On the Agric Mechanization lands in Cantonments, the team praised the military’s intervention in halting what they described as a “non-transparent” attempt by individuals connected to the prior administration to seize the property. They also uncovered illegal rezoning activities conducted without parliamentary approval, adding to the complexity of the case.
The Northern Development Authority’s property in Cantonments presented further concerns, as the team discovered hastily constructed walls by unknown individuals trying to encroach on the land. This was reported to National Security for swift action to prevent further unauthorized activities.
At the demolished Bulgarian Embassy site, the team assured embassy officials that their observations would be included in the final report. They confirmed the suspension of ongoing construction by Dr. Yaw Adu Ampomah, a former appointee of President Akufo-Addo.
Okudzeto Ablakwa emphasized that the ORAL team’s efforts would extend nationwide, demonstrating their dedication to producing a credible and comprehensive report. He reassured Ghanaians that their concerns would be addressed and promised to prioritize the nation’s interests.
The ORAL team’s commitment reflects a broader objective to safeguard state assets, uphold transparency, and ensure accountability in land and property management.
