Ghanaian media personality Sally Mann has responded to the criticism she faced after attending the funeral of Gospel musician Empress Gifty’s mother on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Sally was spotted wearing a simple green jumpsuit, a traditional scarf, and a natural, makeup-free look. The funeral of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, Empress Gifty’s late mother, was attended by several celebrities, including business moguls Osei Kwame Despite and Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, politician Alan Kyerematen, former National Lottery Authority Director-General Sammy Awuku, as well as media personalities Stacy Amoateng, Prophet Ogyaba, gospel musicians Piesie Esther and Joe Mettle, and Kumawood actor Big Akwes, among others.
Her outfit quickly went viral, sparking praise and harsh criticism across social media.
In response, Sally addressed the backlash on her Adom Showtym entertainment talk show, explaining that she had attended the funeral to support her friend, Empress Gifty, during a difficult time.
“I’m not a celebrity living a fake life,” Sally said. “Unlike those who wear corsets to funerals, I choose to be authentic. You can’t expect me to wear a corset dress while mourning with my friend. When I started dressing, your celebrity friends were either in Côte d'Ivoire struggling or hanging out in the ghetto smoking weed.”
She further emphasized, “If I wear a jumpsuit to support my friend in organizing the funeral program and you don’t understand, please leave me alone. I’m not a celebrity.”
Meanwhile: Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or Tuface, has revealed that he is separated from his wife, Annie Idibia. The couple, one of Nigeria’s most well-known celebrity duos, tied the knot in 2012 and have two daughters together.
