Hulu's latest thriller series, "Paradise," manages to keep its viewers engaged throughout its series of shocking twists and turns. Starting out as a political thriller, this show unfolds to be more like a science fiction drama even before the completion of the first episode. Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, played by Sterling K. Brown, takes center stage by protecting former President Cal Bradford, played by James Marsden, in this exciting series. A routine assignment takes a dark turn when Xavier finds the president dead in his bedroom, with the suspicion of foul play.

The investigation has uncovered some pretty interesting leads so far. The president's secret box, where the secrets should have been stored, is empty, raising suspicion over the disappearance of the secrets. Another significant tablet is missing as well. There are bloodstains on the balcony and a half-burnt cigarette at the crime scene, pointing towards a fight or the involvement of another person in the scene, thus increasing the complexity of the investigation. All these lead hints of a political conspiracy and lead to the traditional whodunit situation.

However, an even more spectacular twist at the end of episode one is waiting for the spectators: the heaven of the President's community becomes a secret bunker underground. Hence, the situation of the entire series changes with the genre transition from political thriller to sci-fi drama, trading the world of political intrigue and schemes for this claustrophobic reality. The audience realizes that everything concerning the characters they knew and how they acted turns out to be wrong. This twist doesn't only create suspense but also brings a science fiction dystopia element into play, which takes the themes to survival, the collapse of society, and extreme choices.

Flashbacks in the second episode of the series expose the origins of the bunker and the driving force behind its creation: Samantha Redmond, played by Julianne Nicholson. These flashbacks provide much-needed background information about the events that led to the formation of this isolated community and provide glimpses into the characters' lives before the disaster. In the present, Xavier keeps digging into the death of the president in this strange society. He finds clues that the president was troubled days before his death, which would suggest unease in the bunker. Gabriela plays Dr. Torabi, who cautions Xavier regarding Agent Billy Pace, played by Rahul Kohli, that he may be the danger. The caution brings in suspicion and paranoia that makes Xavier doubt the motives of people around him.

In the third episode, the tension between Xavier and Billy Pace grows. Xavier is getting closer to uncovering something as he discovers a coded message left behind by the president. This mysterious message might eventually come to light the truth regarding the death of the president as well as the secrets that lie within the bunker. Flashbacks in this episode further detail Xavier and the president's deep complicated relationship, adding further layers into their characters and deepening the plot. These flashbacks also add an emotional core to the series, showing human connections amidst events so extraordinary.

The first three episodes of "Paradise" draw the viewer into a gripping mystery, skillfully blending political intrigue, hidden dangers, and complex personal relationships. The twist of the underground bunker elevates the series beyond a typical political thriller, transforming it into a thought-provoking exploration of survival, secrets, and the human condition. As Xavier delves deeper into the mystery surrounding the president's death, viewers are left eager to unravel the truth within this isolated and enigmatic community. The series promises a thrilling journey filled with suspense, intrigue, and unexpected revelations, keeping audiences captivated and craving more.
