Ruben Amorim Promises Better from Manchester United After Frustrating Draw

Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that the team's defensive performance in their 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Sunday is not the style of play he aims to implement.

Amorim acknowledged that the team's approach, which saw them spend large periods of the game with men behind the ball and enjoying just 31.8% of the possession, is not sustainable in the long term.

"I think we did well," Amorim said. "Of course, we don't want to play like this, defending so much and giving the ball to the opponent. With all the games and characteristics of the players, it worked. But when you coach Manchester United, you cannot play too much like that. You have to try to win the game."

Amorim's comments were echoed by full-back Diogo Dalot, who made his 200th appearance for the club on Sunday. Dalot emphasized the need for the team to strive for excellence and not be satisfied with mediocre performances.

"We cannot be satisfied until we are at the top again," Dalot said. "If we can control games and win 3-0, I would be happier. But at the moment, we need to find that way."

Amorim also acknowledged the dissatisfaction among the club's supporters, who protested against the Glazer family's ownership ahead of the match. He expressed sympathy for the fans' frustrations and assured them that the team is working hard to improve.

"This club will never die, that is clear," Amorim said. "You feel it in the streets. This is a big business, and maybe all the fans in this league sometimes feel it is harder to go to the games and pay for tickets. We want to give them a lot of effort. In the future, we will not play like that."
