German Thomas Müller expressed his excitement about facing Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup: what Demichelis told him.

The legendary Bayern Munich player looked forward to the Club World Cup match against Xeneize: "I know a lot about Argentine football."

Thomas Müller , Bayern Munich 's top scorer and World Cup winner with Germany in Brazil 2014 , spoke about the match in which the Bavarian team will face Boca Juniors in one of the most anticipated clashes in the group stage of the Club World Cup to be held in the United States .

“It will be a highlight when we play against Boca Juniors. As a fan, I know a lot about Argentine football from TV and the internet,” the forward said in testimony reproduced by FIFA . “My former teammate 'Micho' (Martín Demichelis) was the coach of River Plate , and when they play against Boca Juniors, it's crazy ,” he added.

“I've always been a football fan, I know the club crests well, it's great. It remains to be seen whether a Club World Cup match on neutral ground will be as exciting as when they play each other in the league, when there's a derby, and whether the home fans enjoy it. But we're looking forward to the different cultures of different clubs coming together, and of course, we want to move on to the next phase,” added the 35-year-old striker.

The match will be played on June 20 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami . Both teams are in Group C , along with Benfica of Portugal and Auckland City of New Zealand .

The clash between the two teams has a significant precedent: the 2001 Intercontinental Cup final , which Bayern won 1-0 at Tokyo's National Stadium . It was a controversial match that was decided in the 109th minute with a goal from Samuel Kuffour . That day, Carlos Bianchi 's team was reduced to one less player after 46 minutes due to the expulsion of current Boca Juniors member Marcelo Delgado . Another player who played in that match was the current president of the club from La Ribera, Juan Román Riquelme .

Boca Juniors ' tournament debut will be on June 16 against Benfica , also in Miami , and they will close out their group stage campaign on June 22 against Auckland City at Geodis Park in Nashville . The top two teams in each group will advance to the round of 16, making the first matches crucial to the Argentine team's hopes.

Bayern Munich currently leads the Bundesliga with 62 points, six ahead of second-place Bayer Leverkusen . On the international stage, they have reached the Champions League quarterfinals and will face Inter Milan, led by Argentine Lautaro Martínez .

Meanwhile, Boca Juniors doesn't compete at the South American level and has only won the Club World Cup as an international event. At home, they lead Zone B of the Apertura Tournament with 23 points, two ahead of Huracán .

The Club World Cup will feature 32 teams, including 12 from Europe, six from South America, four each from CONCACAF , Africa, and Asia, one from Oceania, and one from the host country. This expanded format aims to offer a global spectacle, and the clash between Boca Juniors and Bayern Munich is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated moments of the tournament.
