Hi Jodel, please keep me anonymous.
I need advice from your audience. I've been in a relationship with this guy for a year and a half. Like any relationship, we've had our ups and downs, but I'm deeply committed and value loyalty.
At the beginning, I discovered he had multiple partners, but we addressed it, and he cut ties before we got serious. However, over time, I caught him having flirty conversations with other women about three or four times. Each time, he had explanations that seemed convincing, so I forgave him and moved on. Eventually, I got tired of constantly checking his phone or arguing, especially since he made me feel loved and never neglected.
Lately, I've noticed a change. He started working four months ago, and initially, everything was fine—regular texts, calls, and video chats. But suddenly, the effort stopped. When I first brought it up, he said he was busy with work, so I let it go. Yesterday, I tried having a mature conversation about it, but he made me feel like I was overreacting.
Today, I visited him, and my instincts told me something was off. While he was in the washroom, I checked his phone and found frequent flirtatious and suggestive messages with another girl. When I confronted him, he claimed she was just an old friend, that’s how they text, and that she knows he has a girlfriend. He even mentioned that she has a boyfriend too.
I left because the gaslighting and dishonesty were too much. I feel disappointed but don’t want to make a rash decision. I’d appreciate any advice on how to handle this situation. I’ll be reading your comments.
Thank you.
