After 25 games in the 2024–25 season, Asante Kotoko remains in the lead for the Ghana Premier League title.

Over the weekend, the Porcupine Warriors lost two points to Heart of Lions in a 1-1 draw.

Even though Asante Kotoko lost the game, they still lead the table with 46 points, two more than the second-place Bibiani Gold Stars.

The Gold Stars might have overtaken the Reds to take the lead in the league standings over the weekend, but they lost to Dreams FC 2-0 in their league game.

Nations FC and Heart of Lions, in third and fourth position, respectively, are not far behind Asante Kotoko and Gold Stars, who are still the favorites to win the league.

FC Samartex, the defending champions, are now in ninth place and do not seem good enough to win the league again this year.

Legon Cities FC and Accra Lions are still fighting for points to escape the relegation zone.

It is obvious that the two teams will have to fight until the very end of the season if they are to have a chance of remaining in the Ghanaian top division.

Defender of the Black Stars Mohammed Salisu's father passes away.

Mohammed Salisu, a defender for Ghana and AS Monaco, lost his father tragically on Monday in Kumasi.

Following a brief illness, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Karim passed away at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on April 7, 2025.

By Islamic tradition, the defender's father has since been laid to rest.

Salisu has not yet issued an official statement regarding his father's loss, but he indicated that he is in sorrow by removing all of his Instagram photographs as soon as the news emerged.

The French powerhouses fell on the road at Stade de Brestois on Saturday, and the towering center-back was not present.

He will likely take some time off to grieve for his deceased father while Monaco gets ready to play Marseille in the race for second place in France.

Salisu helped Ghana defeat Chad and Madagascar in back-to-back matches during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March.
