Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has pledged full support to residents affected by the recent rainstorm that wreaked havoc across several communities in the state. The governor made this commitment during a visit to some of the worst-hit areas, where he assessed the level of damage and consoled affected families.

Speaking during the inspection, Governor Oyebanji expressed deep concern over the extent of destruction caused by the heavy downpour, which left many homes roofless and properties damaged. He assured the victims that his administration would work swiftly to provide relief materials and assist them in rebuilding their lives.

“We understand the pain and disruption this disaster has caused. As a government, we will not abandon you at this critical time. Immediate steps are being taken to bring relief to affected families,” Oyebanji stated.

He directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to carry out a comprehensive assessment of the damages and ensure that relief materials are distributed promptly and fairly. Oyebanji also promised that the government would explore longer term solutions to minimize the impact of such natural disasters in the future, including improved drainage systems and better urban planning.

The governor called on residents to remain calm and to cooperate with government officials during the relief efforts. He also urged well meaning individuals, corporate organizations, and philanthropists to support the state’s initiative to help the victims recover.

Several residents who spoke during the governor’s visit expressed gratitude for his prompt response and his assurance of government support. Many shared heartbreaking stories of how the storm displaced their families and destroyed their possessions, appealing for quick intervention to rebuild their homes and livelihoods.

The rainstorm, which struck earlier in the week, affected multiple local government areas in Ekiti State, leading to widespread infrastructural damage and displacement of hundreds of residents.

As relief efforts kick off, Governor Oyebanji reiterated his commitment to ensuring that no affected person is left behind, reaffirming his administration’s dedication to the welfare of all citizens in Ekiti State.
