PSG WILLING TO PAY MORE THAN €88MILLION TO LAND CHELSEA ATTACKER THIS SUMMER

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is said to be considering a €90 million summer approach for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

After a club-record £97.5 million transfer from Inter Milan, the Belgian ace made a stunning return to Stamford Bridge last August.

However, the enthusiasm around his return has worn off, as the striker has been sidelined due to injury and a loss of form.

To make matters worse, Romelu Lukaku recently caused controversy by professing his desire to play for the Nerazzurri at the San Siro.

This has reignited exit rumours, albeit Chelsea will seek to return their initial investment if the club is sold.

PSG is hoping to take advantage of the situation by bringing Romelu Lukaku to Parc des Princes. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, is willing to spend €90 million for Lukaku's services, which is somewhat less than Chelsea paid Inter for him last year.

However, the opportunity to play with Lionel Messi, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, and other superstars may be too tempting to pass up.

If Kylian Mbappe were to join Real Madrid in the summer, which appears to be a foregone conclusion, the Belgian would immediately slide into PSG's center-forward post.

Meanwhile, Chelsea has identified Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund as a possible successor, albeit the club will face stiff competition for his services. Chelsea will face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup second game on Wednesday.

Is Chelsea's goal by Romelu Lukaku on Saturday a sign of hope or a false dawn?

Romelu Lukaku scored his eighth goal of the season in 20 games against Chesterfield in the FA Cup on Saturday.

He's been in excellent form since returning from injury last month, and this was the Belgian's third goal in his past four games.

The 28-year-old is showing indications of regaining his form and, with time, may be able to help soothe some of the tensions between him and the club. Romelu Lukaku's goal-scoring form bodes well for a hectic calendar ahead. In the next weeks, Chelsea will face Tottenham twice, Manchester City, Leicester City, and Lille.

Chelsea are hoping to rekindle their Premier League title challenge while also progressing far in cup tournaments.
