The Institution of Education, Winneba's Council Chairman, Nana Ofori Ansah, has been requested by the university's governing council to remove all letters he's signed to reinstate former university principal executives.
He's also been requested to retract letters he addressed to the university's current Finance Director, Francis Obeng.
Mr. Obeng, who was nominated by the Governing Council in 2019, received a letter from Prof. Mawutor Avoke a few days after the High Court decision, asking him to step down as the University's Finance Director.
This was to make room for Dr. Theophilus Ackorlie, a former Finance Director, who had been contacted by Prof. Avoke through letter to take over his previous role as Finance Director.
Mr. Nana Ofori Ansah was asked not to make decisions without consulting other members of the governing council and the academic board at an emergency meeting of the governing council and the academic board, as this would be in violation of the conventions and practices associated with the office he holds.
Members of the university's governing board scolded him for misinterpreting the court ruling without consulting the university's council and management.
As a result, the Governing Council Chair has apologized to the Governing Council and the University's Academic Board for acting unilaterally and acting in an unseemly manner.
