Barcelona president Joan Laporta has described signing Erling Haaland during the summer transfer window as'very difficult.'
In response to a fan's question, the club president provided an honest assessment while stating that management is doing everything possible to help the team.
"Look, we're doing what's best for Barça," Laporta was overheard saying.
"We're doing everything we can to get there." We want to bring in the best players possible for Barça. The problem is that you're asking me to do something extremely difficult."
Barcelona's pursuit of Haaland has hit a significant stumbling block, with reports claiming that Real Madrid is also interested. What gives Los Blancos an advantage in the negotiations is their superior financial muscle, which Barcelona is struggling to deal with.
Despite this, Laporta met with Haaland's representative, Mino Raiola, in private. According to Fabrizio Romano, Haaland was one of the many agenda items on that conclave's agenda, and several other opportunities were discussed as well.
It's unavoidable that Haaland will be on the move during the summer transfer window, and as of now, it's just a matter of which team he chooses. His €75 million release clause will not be a concern for the suitors, but Raiola's €20 million commission will undoubtedly influence the negotiations for many.
But, for Madrid, neither of the aforementioned costs represents a blunder, as the club expects at least four players to leave in the summer. As a result, going head to head with Madrid will be like fighting a losing battle.
