The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) management has promised the public that the current rehabilitation work would not result in load shedding, colloquially known as 'Dumsor.'

A joint statement published yesterday in Accra by GRIDCo and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) stated that reconstruction work on GRIDCo's transmission lines had begun last Saturday and promised the public that the work would not cause power interruptions.

"For the public's knowledge, Phase One of the transmission line reconstruction project from the Mallam Substation to Avenor was performed and successfully concluded in November 2021, with no substantial disruption to power distribution in Accra and its surrounds."

"Phase Two of the exercise — from the Achimota Substation to Avenor — will similarly not impact electricity distribution in Accra," according to the release.

Consistent supply

It said that the Pokuase and Kasoa substations were commissioned as part of steps to improve electricity distribution in Accra and its surrounds by GRIDCo and the ECG.

It went on to say that the bulk supply points at Kasoa, Mallam, Accra Central, Pokuase, and Achimota substations have enough transformer capacity to satisfy the demand without any load shedding or curtailment.

"We wish to reassure Ghanaians once more that GRIDCo and ECG are partnering successfully to offer power while the rebuilding work is ongoing," the statement continued.
