Ayikoi Otoo, a prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has openly disputed with National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah over his comments about the judiciary and several of its judgments.

According to the previous Attorney General, despite the sense of prejudice, judges do not rule along party lines.

"I'm sorry to say that, but I don't believe he sought legal guidance [before responding] since judges have taken an oath to serve justice to all manner of people without fear or favor, ill-will, and affection."

"He was suggesting that if someone submits a terrible case, the Supreme Court must rule in favor of that person just because a ruling for you every time makes people think there is something wrong?"

Mr. Kan Dapaah, addressing training for judges of the superior courts on the national security policy, cautioned that the notion that the judiciary is prejudiced has serious ramifications for the country's security.

He stated that if this is not curbed, the populace would be forced to take the law into their own hands in order to satisfy personal grievances with the supposed biased bench.
