On the Kumasi-Techiman highway Friday evening, four highway robbers allegedly fired into an incoming car. One passenger was struck by a bullet.

Around 11:30 p.m., the fleeing hoodlums, who wore masks to conceal their identity, ambushed at the Abofour Forest and Nkwakwa part of the route.

Munkaila Mohammed, the driver of a Hyundai Conti bus with the license plate AW 3114-21 and 24 passengers, discovered the thieves in time.

In an attempt to avert a coming heist, Mohammed abruptly reversed his vehicle, but it collided with another automobile behind it, preventing it from fleeing the crime site.

The bandits then fired numerous rounds at the Hyundai Conti bus, which had halted, and one passenger was alleged to have been struck by a discharged bullet in the process.

According to a police record obtained by the DAILY GUIDE, Mohammed himself reported the highway robbery to the Offinso District Police on Friday at 1 a.m.

According to him, the thieves assaulted them when they were traveling from Kumasi to Tamale.

"That at 23:30 hours on 8/4/22, he arrived at a part of the road between Abofour Forest and Nkwakwa on the Kumasi-Techiman Highway and saw around four guys wearing nose masks armed with firearms and had blocked the road."
