Among the accusations submitted to the Police Professional Standards Bureau, PPSB, against police officers, particularly those from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate, are assaults on members of the public, as well as the confiscation and detention of driver's licenses.

"We had a lot of complaints concerning various kinds of officers, particularly the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate, for a while."

This has needed a series of training sessions to remind Ghana Police Service officers to carry out their jobs in accordance with the Service's Standards. The training, which began with about 60 officers from the Motor Transport and MTTD departments, was in accordance with the PPSB's mission.

"I believe it will be more aggressive on our side to reach out to the police and remind them of their responsibilities on a regular basis." We're urging them to conduct themselves more professionally and in compliance with the service's norms and regulations, as well as the human rights of the residents they're safeguarding."

"So we're putting MTTD through this training, and then we'll expand it to other parts of the military after that." As a result, if we take this training carefully, we will see improved outcomes." She then added......

"Some of the concerns are the assault of the public, seizure, and retention," DCOP Donkor added, referring to some of the numerous complaints submitted against Officers.

DCOP Lydia Donkor, the Director-General of the PPSB, expressed her optimism that the training will assure police professionalism.

"This will allow residents to keep their faith in the police service while also improving police-public relations." She stated her case.

Officers who are found guilty, according to DCOP Lydia Donkor, may face severe punishment.

"We have disciplinary procedures in place that define offenses for various types of wrongdoing. You can receive a punishment ranging from a decrease in rank, removal, and dismissal, depending on what the Officer has done."
