Evangelist Akwasi Awuah claims he never intended for the proceeds from his church to be used to support church members.

Evangelist Akwasi Awuah, the founder and pastor of the Pillar of Zion Church in Kumasi, Ashanti region, has said that he founded his church with the primary intention of using church revenues to help church members.

He stated that the goal for which he formed the church was to guarantee that he teaches the word of repentance to assist members in gaining a genuine comprehension of the Bible to earn redemption after death.

Evangelist Awuah was responding to perceived public critiques of his previous declaration that he was unwilling to utilize church assets to feed his congregation.

The use of church finances to help church members is not one of my policies, the man of God was reported as saying.

Evangelist Akwasi Awuah made it plain to the assembly at a church service on Thursday evening, April 14th 2022, that he is only here to rescue souls for Christ, not to offer money and property to church members.

He stated that the church's ultimate goal is to lead lost souls to God's kingdom, emphasizing that the problem of providing money and other resources to sustain church members is only a courtesy.

To support his claim, he referenced texts from John 21:15 to 20 that said that the primary responsibility of pastors is to care for and nurture souls toward redemption to fulfill God's message.

During the Covid-19 time, I provided food for my congregation and other Ghanaians, among other things, and here is where the question of church funding and assistance comes into play, Akwasi Awuah stated.

I am not prepared to apologize to Ghanaians, as some have demanded, since it is preferable to defend the truth rather than play hide and seek as a man of God, the preacher stated.

A pastor's principal responsibility is to teach the unadulterated word of God, not to distribute money to church members.

Akwasi Awuah, an evangeslist, openly reechoed.
